Alfonso "On The Italian Wine Trail" Cevola dove into some statistics on the state of Italian wine in this country for the year 2008. What he found is that the heartland of America has been slowly opening up to the influence of Italian wines and Italian cuisines, authentic Italian cooking not the Americanized dilution of the rich tapestry of Italian food from Genoa to Emiglia-Romagna to Rome to Naples to Palermo. Our Italian ancestors who emigrated in the late 19th and early 20th century from Italia would be more than proud of the widepsread influence of Italian wines and authentic Italian cuisine in all areas of this young country and not just on the two coasts.
Franco did a write up of Alfonso's post in his weekly Italian Sommelier Association round up.
